Carol Marin                                                                                                                       

Carol Marin is a television and print journalist based in Chicago, Illinois. Marin began her journalism career in 1972 at WBIR-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee working as a reporter, anchor, and assistant news director.

Carol’s television news career includes a stint as a correspondent for CBS News working for news magazines 60Minutes II and 60 Minutes, as well as the prime time anchor for both NBC Chicago and WBBM-TV.

Honors include three George Foster Peabody awards, two Alfred I. duPont-Columbia awards, two National Emmys and the George Polk Award for investigative reporting. Though much of Carol’s work involves political reporting, a substantial part of it also includes examinations of public corruption, and organized crime.

Dr. Salma Ghanem

Salma Ghanem is professor and dean of the College of Communication. Her background blends the theoretical and applied aspects of the field of communication.

In addition to her academic background, she served as a press and information officer for the Press Office of the Egyptian Mission to the United Nations in New York and as a communication specialist with Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Texas.

Ghanem received multiple awards for research and teaching and has published and presented nationally and internationally. Her publication record includes political communication with particular emphasis on the first and second level of agenda setting and framing. She also published and presented research on international media coverage, intercultural communication and advertising in the Middle East.
